Parents' Association

Welcome

Welcome to the NHGS Parents’ Association. My name is Nikki Robson and I joined the PA in 2023, I started out helping with the Christmas Fayre prep and soon after took up the role of Vice Chair. I’ve taken over the role of Chair this year. I’ve been involved in all of our major fundraising events and it’s been great to see parents and students supporting our efforts. The funds we raise really make a big impact on the students and we’re all keen to continue improving the educational experience for all.

What we do

The NHGS PA  organise and run a number of activites and events throughout each year that generate funds for the school. Our fundraising efforts make a significant contribution to the schools finance ability to support and develop opportunites and resouces for the students.

NHGS parents are automatically members of the association and participating is a great way to help raise money, to have fun and to provide opportunities for parents to meet one another.

  • Serving refreshments at school events

For example, the funds raised  by the PA have been used to provide outside "pods" for students to use at break and lunch times.

The PA meet the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm, usually at the school.

Who we are

The NHGS PA committee members are;

  • Chair - Nikki Robson
  • Vice Chair - John Wells
  • Secretary - currently recruiting
  • Treasurer - Sadaf Zarif

We also have a great bank of volunteers who support in the background when they are available and we are always keen to welcome new people who would like to get involved, whether that is being part of the committee, organizing an event or just helping on the day.

We can never have too many volunteers - every little helps! Just an hour helping by wrapping hampers / prizes, designing a poster, providing refreshments, updating our website, drafting a letter … it is all equally valuable and very much appreciated.

How you can help

There are lots of ways in which parents can help and the more parents who support the PA, the students and the school, the more the workload can be spread.  You can commit as little or as much time as you like but any kind of help is welcomed and very much appreciated.

Volunteer

If you would like to volunteer please contact us at nhgs.parentassociation@gmail.com . You can commit as little or as much time as you like and all help is very welcomed. It's a great opportunity for parents to actively support the school while building social relationships.

Other way to help

Other ways to support our PA include shopping online through easyfundraising, joining our Monthly Prize Draw and applying for Match Funding through your employer. These have all made a significant contribution to our fundraising over the last few years and require very little time and effort to support.

The NHGS Sixth Form Charity Committee

Could you buy an extra item in your weekly shop to donate to local families in need?

NHGS Charity Committee has become a “School Community Champion” for the charity Happy Days, which jointly runs the largest food bank in Calderdale. The Charity Committee organises several collections to support thier work across the school year. All donations are grateful received and your support is very much appreciated.
