Assessment Calendars

The NHGS Assessment Calendars (Years 10 to 13)  give an overview of the types of formal assessments that will occur during the academic year.

Please be aware that, whilst these dates are planned, external factors may mean that they need to move. Teaching staff will do their best to set assessments according to this calendar and will communicate to students when they need to be moved.

Students will be provided with a paper copy of their assessment calendar and this should be stuck in their planner.

Year 7 & Year 8

Year 7 and Year 8 will have two formal assessment windows (weeks commencing 17th November 2026 and 7th June 2027) for all core  (Maths, English, Science) subjects and some option (French, Spanish, Geography, History, RS, Music, Technology, Art, PE, Computing, Drama)   subjects. During those weeks, timetables will be collapsed to allow students to focus on their assessments and complete them at the same time across the year. Students will be expected to prepare carefully and have access to a year group revision Google Classroom where staff will post resources. Existing exam arrangements will be accommodated. Students may still have assessments outside of these windows (e.g. Art, PE, Technology) but will be given plenty of warning so that they know what to expect and how to prepare.

Year 9

Year 9 will have two formal assessment windows (weeks commencing 30th November 2026 and 24th May 2027) for all core (Maths, English, Chemistry, Biology, Physics) subjects and some option (French, Spanish, Geography, History, RS, Music, Technology, Art, PE, Computing) subjects. During those weeks, timetables will be collapsed to allow students to focus on their assessments and complete them at the same time across the year.
