Cody studies A Levels in Mathematics, Further Maths, Physics and Economics at NHGS Sixth Form and plans to pursue aerospace engineering at university - after which, the sky, or rather the universe, is the limit. At NHGS Sixth Form, he has embraced opportunities that expand his skills, leadership and experiences beyond the classroom.

As part of NHGS enrichment, Cody took part in the ‘Science in Primary Schools’ programme, visiting a local primary school weekly to teach Key Stage 3 students physics. The programme helped him develop leadership skills through mentoring and improve communication by explaining science to students of varying abilities. Reflecting on the experience, he said, “Teaching younger pupils and sharing my enthusiasm for science was really rewarding. Figuring out how to explain concepts clearly also reinforced my own understanding of the topics - so it was a winner around.”
In Spring 2025, Cody was part of a team competing in the UK Rocketry Challenge, designing, building and launching a rocket according to strict competition rules. He took responsibility for the safety of the rocket’s payload—a test egg—gaining hands-on experience in project management, problem-solving and precision engineering. Reflecting on the challenge, he said, “Designing and launching the rocket taught me that careful planning is only part of the process—trial, error and adapting quickly are just as important, which is exactly what excites me about a career in aerospace engineering.” Although the team did not progress to the national stage, the experience reinforced his passion for turning theoretical knowledge into flight-ready designs.
In October of Year 13, Cody took part in a once-in-a-lifetime trip to India, visiting SRM Public School in Chennai and exploring the country’s rich culture and history. Highlights included cruising Kerala’s serene backwaters on a Shikara boat, wandering the historic streets of Fort Kochi, discovering royal artefacts at Hill Palace Museum and observing reptiles at Crocodile Park. Cody explained, “The trip was truly authentic. We got to see how people live, from experiencing a different school system to the daily life of local communities. It was a fully immersive cultural experience that really opened my eyes—and, of course, the food was the best part!” The trip offered unforgettable experiences that brought learning to life beyond the classroom."
We wish Cody every success as he continues his studies at NHGS and pursues his aspirations in aerospace engineering. We are proud to have provided opportunities that nurtured his curiosity, leadership and passion for learning.
