Open Evening
We look forward to welcoming you to North Halifax Grammar School
We look forward to welcoming you to North Halifax Grammar School
Are you a parent of a child in Year 4 or 5 and eager for them to experience a school that values both academic excellence and individuality? Join us for our Open Evening and explore how North Halifax Grammar School nurtures students through the transition from childhood to becoming fully confident adults, ready to take their place in the world.
At NHGS, we believe in empowering each student to develop their own intellectual voice. Our rigorous curriculum is based on the principles of the Trivium: Grammar, Dialectic and Rhetoric (see the Curriculum page on our website to find out more). This not only builds a strong academic foundation but also fosters critical thinking, clear communication, and the art of persuasion. But we don’t stop there—our school is dedicated to supporting students as individuals, helping them discover their passions both inside and outside the classroom.
Whether it's through our wide range of extracurricular activities—ranging from debate clubs to sports teams through our transformational Character and Culture programme, or through leadership opportunities, NHGS offers a vibrant community where students can thrive in their unique talents and interests.
Come meet our inspiring teachers, hear from students about their experiences, and discover how NHGS is the perfect place to develop both academically and personally as part of a warm and welcoming community.
Supporting Neurodivergent, SEND and Access Needs
We understand that Open Evenings can sometimes feel busy or overwhelming for some students and families. If your child is neurodivergent, has SEND, or you feel they may benefit from additional support or a quieter visit experience, please do get in touch. We would be very happy to discuss how we can help make your visit as comfortable and accessible as possible. Please get in touch by emailing h.harding@nhgs.co.uk
Book a Headteacher’s Talk
We are hosting four Headteacher’s Talks in the School Theatre at 5.00pm, 5.45pm, 6.30pm and 7.15pm. Click here to book your free tickets for your preferred talk time.
* Please note: if you book the 7.15pm talk, you will need to tour the school before the talk begins, as the event will finish shortly afterwards.
Parking
Parking will be available on the school fields, accessed from Moorbottom Road (No parking will be available in the school car park). We would encourage you to use the field parking, however if you do choose to park on the roads around school, please park responsibly; do not block residential driveways and please do not double park (i.e., park directly opposite another parked car) as this narrows the road and stops public buses and emergency vehicles from being able to pass through. Blue badge parking will also be available on our school field.
