Switch Off Fortnight

Switch Off Fortnight Logo 2-13 NovemberSwitch Off Fortnight is taking place from Monday 29th November. It's a campaign that's all about encouraging young people to think about how we use electricity and energy. As part of the NHGS campaign we asked students to read the electricity meter during the first week and then in the second week 'Switch Off' and see what impact it made. Facts

Remember to download your Switch Off Poster!

How to add your results to the VLE (NHGS Students only):

Always get an Adult's supervision and permission when reading the results from the electricity meter.

1) Read electricity meter value and put it in your planner at the beginning of the first week. Record time that you read the meter. E.g. 6pm. During the first week do not try to change any of your electricity usage habits.

2) One week later (at the same time that you did the first reading e.g. 6pm), read the electricity meter and put this value in your planner. Now, from this point forward, start your Switch Off Campaign!! Download the poster and put it up in your house. Make sure people in your house use electricity efficently.

3) At the end of the 2nd week (at the same time that you did the first two readings e.g. 6pm), read the electricty meter and record the value in your planner. Now go to the VLE page by clicking here, work out how much you have saved by doing the calculations on the VLE page (you will need to login), and submit your results.
