Switch
Off Fortnight
Switch
Off Fortnight took place nationally from 2 to 13 November.
It's a campaign that's all about encouraging young people to think
about how we use electricity and energy. As part of the NHGS campaign
we asked students to read the electricity meter during the first
week and then in the second week 'Switch Off' and see what impact
it made.

We asked students that have recorded their meter readings over the last two weeks to enter them on the VLE. All results were recorded so they could view other people's results and see who has saved the most electricity. View the results here.

As part of out Switch Off Fortnight we'd
like you to promise
to the
Switch Off Fortnight pledge:
I promise to:
... switch off lights when I'm the last person to leave the room (home/school)
... always turn off my computer at night (home)
... always turn off the TV, DVD and CD Player and not leave them on
standby (home)
... ask my parents to use low-energy light bulbs (home).
... dress warmly when it's cold instead of turning the heating up (home)
... only put the water I need in the kettle when I'm only making one
cup of tea (home)
... only charge my mobile phone when the battery is low (lifestyle)
... unplug my phone charger when I've finished using it.
