THE ACADEMIC CURRICULUM

Key Stage Three (KS3)

In Year 7 students follow a curriculum of Art, Design and Technology (D & T), Dram/Learning Resource Centre (LRC), English, French, Geography, History, ICT, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education (PE), Personal, Social, Citizenship and Health Education (PSCHE), RE and Science. In Year 9 students continue to study the same subjects as in Year 8. There is an opportunity for students to continue with Latin or German or Spanish.

Homework

Homework is an integral element of the academic curriculum. Subject teachers set, correct, mark and assess homework in accordance with school and departmental guidelines. Homework is linked with classwork, encourages learning skills and utilises resources that complement work undertaken at school. Students are provided with School Planners to record homework that is set. This helps their organisation and ability to meet deadlines. Tutors maintain an overview of the Planners and parents are asked to check and sign them weekly. A homework timetable is distributed for each year group in the first week of the Autumn term and is also made available on the school’s website.

The times below set the range of time that students are expected to spend on homework.
