We expect students to be considerate, courteous, helpful
and respectful of people and property. This applies when students are
traveling to and from school, when they are at school and when they are
representing the school on visits or at fixtures. We want students to
identify strongly with the school. A constructive attitude, producing
high quality work, adopting positive behaviour, completing homework punctually
is explicitly encouraged through the ‘Behaviour for Learning’ system. Students
are rewarded through house-stamps, credits and certificates which result
in real benefits and privileges for students. Commendations encourage
sustained good and steady work; school colours reward involvement and
achievement in sport, music and drama and subject prizes and special
awards recognise exceptional performance. Students who fall short of
the school’s expectations in relation to behaviour or who deliberately
break the rules can expect to be punished. There is a clear sanctions
structure within the ‘Behaviour for Learning’ system which
is applied. This establishes and maintains clear parameters for work
and behaviour. Parents are involved and the school seeks the support
of parents in its use of appropriate sanctions.
‘The introduction of the ‘Behaviour for Learning’ policy
has had a very positive effect on my children’s’ attitude
to school and their learning through the positive reinforcement they
have received’.
