The Learning Resource Centre (LRC)

Events this Year

2008 is the National Year of Reading.   Various events and activites will be held throughout the year.
Nov - Book Week

Nov/Dec - Kids' Lit Quiz
March 6th - World Book Day
June – Calderdale Book Awards

A team of student librarians help in the connexions resource centre and LRC on a daily/weekly basis.

Opening Times
The LRC is open every day:
Monday to Thursday 8:00am - 4:10pm
Friday 8:00am - 4:00 pm

A rota operates at break time:
Year 7 - Tuesday and Thursday
Year 8 - Wednesday and Friday
Year 9 - Monday and Wednesday
Year 10 - Monday and Friday
Year 11 - any day - space permitting
Sixth Form - any day - space permitting

A rota also operates at lunch time:
Year 7 - Monday and Wednesday
Year 8 - Tuesday and Thursday
Year 9 - Tuesday and Friday
Year 10 - Wednesday and Thursday

ICT

The ICT rooms are open during break and lunch (providing a member of staff is available to supervise).

The LRC is open to students. There are computers and a bank of laptops available to use. See the opening times for the LRC - above.

Chess Club

Wednesday – M16 Chess Club – 12:30-1:05

All welcome. Fixtures in Bradford Chess League – All Students. In-house competition. See Mr Grant.

Science Club

Year 7 Monday 3:15 to 4:15 in SL3
Year 8 Tuesday 3.15 to 4.15 in SL3
Year 9, 10 and 11 Thursday 3:15 to 4.15 in PL, Tuesday & Thursday 12.15 to 1pm.

Duke of Edinburgh

Meetings on Wednesdays after school. This applies to those undertaking theD of E Award Scheme. For Years 10 – 13. See Miss Hudson.

Hockey

Girls - Year 7 Hockey, Wednesday lunchtime - please see Miss Eteson

Girls - Years 8-9 - Thursday lunchtime - please see Miss Eteson or Miss Tomlin

Boys - Yr 7 to Yr 9- Friday Lunchtimes – Tennis Courts

Boys (yrs 7-9) and Girls (all ages) - Wednesday after school with Miss Tomlin and Miss Eteson – At Park Lane School or North Bridge Leisure Centre from 3:45pm to 4:45pm.

Girls Football - Years 7-9 - Monday lunchtime. Please see Miss Eteson or Miss Tomlin.

Young Enterprise & Leeds Enterprise Advisory Programme

Various opportunities available to get involved with Young Enterprise.

5 companies in Year 12:
'Guru' - meet Tues 3pm
'Destiny' - meet Wed 3pm
'Electro' - meet Thurs 3pm
'El Matador' - meet Tues 3pm
'Rave' - meet Mon 3pm

Involving about 80 Year 12 Students

Leeds Enterprise Advisory Programme has one company in Year 10 called 'Zest' who meet Wed and Fri lunch, which involves about 20 Year 10 students.

Netball

Lunchtime activities - 12:15 to 12:50

Year 7 - Wednesday Lunchtime
Years 8 and 9 - Thursday Lunchtime
Years 10 and 11 - Friday Lunchtime
Sixth Form - Monday Lunchtime

After school netball club - 3:00 - 4:15 (the day varies from week to week)

All of the above take place either in the gym or on the tennis courts depending on weather and numbers. See Miss Hemmingway for details.
